About Us
Our History
St.Michaels' Parish was established in 1956, having previously been part of the parish of Dandenong. In 1956 it became part of the Diocese of Sale. In 2002 the Diocese published a Pastoral Plan, Journeying Together.
Journeying Together identified 5 Mission Directions:1. Building parishes as welcoming and inclusive communities.
2. Connecting with youth and young families.
3. Enriching prayer, liturgy and life.
4. Nurturing the life and leadership of faith communities.
5. Shaping the church of the future.
Currently a new pastoral plan is being prepared.
Parish Priest
Fr. Peter Slater
Parish Preiest - Contact
I was ordained in Sale in 1975 and have worked in a number of Gippsland parishes since then. My family were farmers in South Gippsland and I still have relations in the area. My interests include folk music and golf. In 2000 I came to St Michael’s in Berwick and I have seen the growth taking place in this area from close at hand. In 2004 I was fortunate to take sabbatical leave and visited the USA. This was a great time. I am really pleased to see the great numbers of parishioners coming forward to assist in the life and mission of the parish.
